Sign of the Month: Capricorn

Capricorn is the tenth sign of the zodiac and symbolized by the goat. It is ruled by the planet Saturn and is an earth element.

Capricorns are attractive with finely chiseled features and a stately carriage. Most Capricorns have a striking angular beauty which makes them very photogenic. They have a secret desire to be admired by family and friends.

Capricorns have a strong will to be achievers in life and are strongly motivated by factors like money, success, status and power. They are extremely industrious and do not mind burning midnight oil at work provided they are convinced it will take them up the ladder. This could turn them into workaholics. Therefore, it’s vital that they learn to maintain a work-play balance.

Capricorn Compatibility

This is the most compatible with Taurus, Scorpio, Virgo, and Pisces. They are cautious when it come to love. However, as they move deeper into the relationship their cool exterior melts to reveal warmth. Once they fall in love, they stay totally committed. They go that extra mile to make their partner happy. Capricorns are not into casual sex.

Capricorns’ most pronounced negative trait is their pessimistic attitude. They are not very tolerant of those who do not measure up to the exacting standards they set. When it comes to money, Capricorns can be pretty tight-fisted and cut corners wherever they can. They are conservative and can have elephant-sized egoes.

Capricorn rules the bones, joints, knees, and teeth. They are susceptible to problems like neuralgia, stiff joints, arthritis and orthopedic problems.

Capricorn ruling the first house raises the competitive spirit and by no means dictates the presence of a sombre or colourless personality. On the contrary, it implies individuals with overcompensatingly cheerful personalities, who willingly accept responsibilities and hardships which they feel they were born to endure. There is always a choice to be made and the right one is never easy, because it usually involves success which must be earned.

Those born under the Capricorn sign are notably ambitious but not blinded by it. Their sense of discipline demands a more realistic approach to things which keeps them focused on long term goals. Patience usually pays off and therefore, Capricorns generally achieve what they strive for.

Ruler – Saturn

Saturn demands from Capricorns structure and meaning in all their plans. It fosters a responsible and conservative nature that demonstrates patience and prudence.

Personality

The goat that represents the Capricorn sign is no stranger to going it alone. Should Capricorns look up at the climb of a rocky mountain ahead, they will take each step with careful consideration. Solitude is important to this personality as it implies that they can accomplish things on their own terms.

A fear of rejection or ridicule can motivate Capricorns to be cautious about revealing too much of themselves to others. However, once this sign decides that you are trustworthy, a strong friendship can be established.

Relationships

If the Capricorn sign entrusts its heart, it will probably be to someone who will guard it carefully. They play for keeps and are not likely to have casual affairs. They exude confidence and aloofness which attracts the opposite sex, but they are not easily won over. Capricorn people are loyal friends and lovers who can be quite possessive, jealous and are not likely to forgive, if betrayed.

Careers

People born under the Capricorn sign are hardworking, shrewd, and drawn to money making professions. Their structured personalities make them great financiers and managers. It is in their nature to wheel and deal, making them good stock market brokers or real estate agents. A natural sense of authority could gear them towards politics or any career that requires management or organization. They also possess a love for music, and if their passion is strong enough, it could lead them to success in that field.

Soltice Lunar Eclipse

The full moon lunar eclipse of December 21, 2010 highlights the Gemini/Sagittarius polarity, which brings in the themes of communication, education, higher thought, intelligence and the more negative energies of fanaticism, arrogance, overindulgence, rationalization, duplicity and amorality.

Because the Moon and the Sun are both at the all-important 29 degrees of their respective signs (Moon 29Gemini20 and Sun 29Sagittarius20) an urgent message of change is part of the mix. Any planet or light at 29 degrees of a sign brings endings and change. Something has matured and is no longer needed. It is time to transform something or to end it and to build something new. However, it is wise to be aware that a planet at 29 degrees can cause a person to waiver, to go back and forth and to evaluate and re-evaluate endlessly, until finally, exhausted with the decision making process, that person may just make a rash and hasty decision to change things without using rational thought.

Then too, all eclipses bring in a time of change, a time to correct our course and move forward in a new or altered way toward our goals. This lunar eclipse asks us to take a long, hard look at the issues in our life that are holding us back or that are keeping us from fulfilling our destiny and to make decisions about a more positive, life-affirming way of meeting those challenges.

The eclipse opposition of the Moon and Sun are square the conjunction of Jupiter and Uranus in Pisces. Because Jupiter is the ruler of Sagittarius, the sign that holds the Sun during this eclipse, the themes of compassion (Pisces) and truth (Jupiter) are very much in focus. Uranus brings unexpected change like a lightning bolt and new ways of thinking and acting.

In short, this lunar eclipse brings an unprecedented opportunity to bring about a new way of being with regard to others with whom we share Mother Earth. We are called to act in a higher, more authentic way (Jupiter) and to keep our mind on the oneness of all beings (Pisces). Indeed, in light of the world situation at this time, this lunar eclipse presents an opportune time for each of us to focus on this spirit of oneness with all others.

Many blessings to each of you who read this and take up the challenge of this eclipse—to give away those things that are no longer needed or helpful, and to bring to the world a spirit of loving, truthful compassion for all beings.

It's extremely rare for a lunar eclipse to occur on the same day as the Winter Solstice – but it’s happening! Do you think maybe this eclipse might be especially significant?

Lunar eclipses are always Full Moons, and this one occurs at 3:14 AM at 29°20' Gemini. For starters, Gemini Full Moons are about taking stock of how you're doing with your learning, communication, playfulness, and need for variety.

The most important aspects to the Moon during this lunar eclipse – including oppositions from Mercury and Pluto -- suggest that transforming your thinking, or communicating your transformative thoughts to others, is a major theme for the next 6 to 12 months. Inviting divine love to saturate your heart (trine from Neptune), and releasing emotional resistance to your intuitive flashes (square from Uranus), are also suggested by these aspects.

This lunar eclipse's Sabian Symbol is, “A Parade Of Bathing Beauties Before Large Beach Crowds.”

It suggests being willing to put yourself out there to let others benefit from your natural gifts. The Aquarian Age has arrived, and one of its major themes is for each of us to serve others with our unique talents. From this perspective, everyone in the crowd takes their turn as a “bathing beauty”, and is applauded for their special contribution!

Keywords: Being on show. Sheer attraction of beauty. Seeking praise. Displaying in order to get people to observe and/or evaluate. Beauty pageants. Bathing costumes and skimpy clothing. Beaches. Lifeguards. Beauty judges. Nudist beaches. Breast sizes. The mysteries of the feminine. Playing dress ups. Gatherings of goddesses. Mermaids converging. The water element. Recognizing superficiality and shallow behavior. Water nymphs.

The Caution: Using superficialities to win support. Giving importance to the issues of appearance. Neglecting the “beauty within”. Too much makeup. Flaunting one’s body. Not employing intellect. Leering, jeering. Lusting after the unattainable. Feeling like merchandise. Making superficial judgments.

It is also the Winter Solstice, when the Sun enters Capricorn. There, it radiates energy available for productivity, accomplishment, and mature, responsible behavior. Mercury also sextiles Neptune and squares Jupiter today! This is great for creative imagination and divine connection, but be careful not to let your mouth get ahead of your brain!

There are more reasons that this is an especially powerful eclipse as the Sun will be passing over Pallas Athena, the Moon's North Node, Pluto, and then Mars during the days following the eclipse. This is a potent line-up of energies, asking us to let go of things that are sabotaging our efforts or holding us back emotionally. Further, Venus is back on the degree that it went retrograde in October.

Total lunar eclipses contain and release potent energies, and they can push into new realizations and situations, compelling us to purge what's not working for us so we can move onto the new. The effects of a lunar eclipse can last for months, so whatever is being birthed now is likely to be reflected and worked out for some time to come.

A message from this degree could be about getting into your physical body and appearance so you can present a 'better face to the world'. Dressing up and feeling good about yourself can give you more self confidence and the push to get out there and mix it up with others. With the eclipse on this point, though, it may not be as easy as it sounds; many can feel like giving up and not putting in the effort. Society doesn't always reflect back to us the beauty we may hold within. However, radiating beauty is just the prescription for pushing through some of the darker aspects that are likely to be unfolding now.

Sagittarius the Archer, the ninth sign of the tropical zodiac, is a fun-loving masculine sign with a fondness for adventure. The Sun on his annual journey though it can vary depending on the year. In astrology the Sun stands for the fundamental character of our true self, symbolizing our inner nature. This inner self is essentially light, so the zodiacal sign is like a filter on a lens, colouring the image. Each sign has a planetary ruler, and Sagittarius is traditionally ruled by the fortunate planet Jupiter, the mythological lord of the gods. Jupiter was known to the ancient Greeks as Zeus, from which we get the Latin deus, meaning God.

Change-loving Sagittarius governs long-distance travel, matters of the higher mind (philosophy, religion and the law), cultural pursuits – and having a good time! It is a fire sign, so Sagittarians are positive, forthright communicators who love travelling – although you do tend to be restless and hate to take orders.

The Sun in Sagittarius favours social status, the higher mind and travel, especially in pursuit of idealistic aims in faraway places. Sagittarians are idealists and usually much in demand socially, because you are like a breath of fresh air.

** All about Sagittarius

Sagittarians are known as the "favorites of the gods" for good reason: These folks are famous for their generosity, humor and optimism, as well as their ability to see the best is every situation, no matter how dire the circumstances. A Sagittarius will find a real reason to celebrate each and every day, something due in no small part to Jupiter, this sign's planetary ruler that's best known for benevolence. Of course, the other side of this coin is excess and extravagance, so in addition to knowing how to laugh -- and how to make others laugh -- Sagittarians are also experts at overdoing everything. At the same time, if a Sag has to be restricted to just one of anything, it better be the most impressive of its kind!

Sagittarians are also famous for their love of travel and philosophy -- these people crave knowledge and will spare no effort to satisfy their innate curiosity. Sag's own personal philosophy is that life is nothing more than a series of extended vacations, which is why so many born under the sign of the Archer end up living in a different city, state or even country than where they grew up.

When it comes to relationships, Sagittarians often find that some of their most successful ones are with four-legged creatures -- their connection to anything with fur, feathers, and even leaves is legendary. Romantically speaking, if you're a human, you can only have a Sag of your very own if you're willing to hold them with an open palm; restrictions will not be tolerated. However, if you let your Sag sweetie know you care, but allow them to live as they see fit, you'll have gained an intelligent, witty and highly impressive partner whose long-term loyalty will astound you.

One warning about Sagittarians: Don't ever ask them a question if you can't withstand an honest answer. They're bound to tell the truth above all else, regardless of the consequences -- that way; at least they can be sure you know exactly who they are. And while Sagittarians can get along with just about anyone, many of them are drawn to those born under other Fire signs also living by the motto, "What you see is truly what you get."

A Sagittarius Ascendant endows you with the type of flexible personality that works well for you. Because of your need for independence and freedom, you tend to find yourself in changing circumstances and different environments. Such changes of course require a certain amount of adaptability. With a Sagittarian ascendant, you are inclined to put marriage off until later in life (or skip it altogether) unless you find an understanding partner who does not attempt to be possessive or confine you. Once such an acceptable marriage arrangement is made however, the Archer adapts and makes a stable, loyal spouse.

You are full of energetic enthusiasm, but this enthusiasm is not always accompanied by unflagging physical energy. You tend, in fact, to be lazy unless highly motivated to perform. It is often difficult to engage in boring routine exercise and, despite an innate restlessness and propensity for rushing around in a myriad of activities, you are quite capable of being unwilling (or unable) to keep yourself in good physical shape. Nevertheless, though often rash and hasty, your passions are sincere and inspirational.

Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter, planet of inspiration, wisdom, good fortune, and abundance. You are inclined to be spiritually or philosophically oriented, talkative, and intellectually curious and, at times, perhaps a bit too impressed with status and wealth. Although usually surrounded by a sense of limitless abundance, your natural exuberance and generosity can also generate the urge to throw your money around. Like those with your opposite sign Gemini rising, you can demonstrate a wide range of orientations and abilities: from being a great teacher, writer, scholar or researcher, all the way down to the flimflam of con artistry and the intellectual emptiness of copying the originality and talent of others.

You are usually very honest, though it is also true that your too-candid remarks can sometimes be misinterpreted as rudeness. Negative influences associated with Sagittarius rising stimulate a tendency for self-indulgence, which makes you pompous, grossly overweight, dependent on drugs or alcohol, or too opinionated and cynical. On the positive side, Sagittarius gives a love of drama and the theatre, good food and drink, dancing, sports, animals, and, as a rule, you'll never miss an opportunity to travel. You are likely to be involved with publishing, education, religion, art, or music, either as a profession or hobby.

Personality Profile:

The Sun in Sagittarius nature is one of expansion, and their eyes are often optimistically fixed on a future goal. They’re global citizens, here to sample many tastes and cultures, which can keep them constantly on the move. A bored “Sadge” is a rare sight, since they’ll break free of any relationship or situation that starts to squash their legendary enthusiasm.

The Sagittarius often has a bright, cheerful demeanor that can be disarming. It’s an uncomplicated style that invites you to drop your defenses, too, and just “be.” This makes for a fun friend that knows all the best ethnic restaurants and can stay out ‘til the cows come home.

They’re known for spontaneous philosophical ramblings and don’t seem to get bogged down in emotional complexities. Those that love them may wish for more depth, more feeling, and there are times when they are shockingly blunt. It’s unnerving to be the target of a direct hit, but it is easily forgiven if accepted as just another fiery arrow of Sagittarian truth.

The same mind that shows tactlessness can be a beacon of light in confusing times. Leave it to a Sagittarius to step into a messy tangle and sum up the situation with blinding clarity. They’ll be willing to say the truth when all others hide in confusion. This makes them invaluable friends that can guide you back to the clear path when you need honesty rather than enablers.

There’s a notable physicality to the Sun in Sagittarius that gets them involved in vigorous athletics and bold travel-adventures. They bring this flexibility to the bedroom and this lusty, anything-goes attitude can cause them to take a walk on the wild side. The ideal partner for the “Sadge” is above all a friend, and a partner in life’s great adventure who understands the needs of a true free spirit.

Sagittarius is a sign of faith, adventure, and philosophy, and one of the images for Sagittarius is the rainbow. The rainbow is an image of our search for freedom, and December is your month to evaluate the status of your desires which were birthed in the November days of Scorpio. Did you get what you want or at least need in 2010? How can you get closer to your dreams in the New Year?

New Moon on December 5th at 12:37 PM EST

The New Moon presents us with a perfect time to meditate.  Every New and Full Moon is perfect for meditation but this New Moon has optimistic aspects (Mars Sextile Neptune and Square to the Jupiter Uranus Conjunction).  Also the Sun and Moon are Sextile Saturn in Libra which operates as a balancing mechanism.  It just takes effort to get this lunar month off on a very positive footing.
At this New Moon, Uranus the planet of innovation, creativity, and surprise is stationing direct. This emphasises new creative opportunities and the desire to make plans for the future. Freedom is important to Uranus. If restricted in any way from expressing itself, rebellion is often the result. Fortunately Jupiter has been freeing up Uranus this year. Uranus begins to move towards Aries once more, where it will commence a new 7-year cycle in early 2011 Now is a good time to put energy into our dreams and visions for the coming year.
A striking kite formation in the heavens helps us harness past experiences and adapt them so we can work in new ways as we move ahead. The alignment of Pluto with Mars, the North Node and retrograde Mercury on the 14th suggests breakthroughs are now possible which free up enormous stores of energy and releases karmic patterns so we can transcend limitations and fears. This combination helps us focus on objectives and put in the hard work required. A sustained effort will get our message across and attain the desired result.

New Moons are a time of new beginnings and undertaking new projects; since this New Moon occurs in Sagittarius, these projects will likely center on adventure, discovery, and personal experiences, whether they be physical (by planning future travels, say) or mental (through learning or new personal understanding). This is likely to be a weekend of fun and discovery, no matter your definitions.

The Sabian Symbol** for the Sun and Moon at 13°28′ Sagittarius is the Pyramids and the Sphinx, with the keyword CERTIFICATION. What we see with our own eyes may not be the whole truth, but it’s a start, and it’s our first clue as to what is real and what isn’t. One of the wonders of the world, the Pyramids represent the best of what humanity can manifest into reality, and we still aren’t sure how they did it! As we work on our ability to manifest, we must continue to strive for the greatest good and to be willing to go through the trial and error necessary to perfect our skills.

Uranus is now direct after five months in retrograde, which could add new dimensions of your knowledge and insight of your own self. All other planets are also currently direct until December 10

Mars is also in Sagittarius, which will add an air of determination to any new undertakings (or adventures) that you may begin.

We don’t see the awakening of a seed. When it bursts open and its life violently pours forth, it is still deep within the earth, out of sight. And yet, it is growing.

At 13°28′ Sagittarius, the New Moon itself has no relation to the T-square, which took place in the early degrees of cardinal signs Aries, Libra, and Capricorn. However, there is a very big connection between this New Moon and the planets on the main axis of the T-square, and that’s why I believe we’ll see major developments that are directly related to it.

Even before the T-square peaked in the early cardinal signs over the summer, Saturn and Uranus had been opposed in the late degrees of Virgo and Pisces since November 2008. At the height of the T-square, they were in early Libra and Aries. Jupiter, meanwhile, has also been moving in and out of opposition with Saturn and conjunction with Uranus. Jupiter and Uranus now are in late Pisces but will advance back into Aries soon. And here’s where things get really interesting.

Jupiter, as planetary ruler of Sagittarius, rules this New Moon. Jupiter just went direct on November 18 and is picking up some speed. We’re back in growth and expansion mode, following a period of dormancy and contraction.

Uranus, meanwhile, is stationed at a dead stop, ready to return direct a little over eight hours after the New Moon. This is a very powerful moment in time, and the breakthroughs won’t be far behind. Watch that fertile ground for signs of growth popping out.

Jupiter and Uranus are both planets of awakening – Jupiter, because he represents higher consciousness and Uranus because he represents the electrical spark, the genius that inspires us to innovate and think out of the box. I chose as the image for this post Michelangelo’s famous painting on the Sistine Chapel in Rome depicting God’s creation of Man. I also might have used the “consciousness” scene in 2001: A Space Odyssey, in which primate consciousness evolved through contact with aliens; or the birth of Athena, in which the goddess of wisdom was born fully formed out of the head of Zeus – the father god and Roman Jupiter.

The symbolism is all the same, and it’s where we’re at as of this New Moon.

The only aspect made by this New Moon is a close sextile to Saturn at 15 degrees Libra, sign of its exaltation. Saturn is known as the Lord of Time, and this is why he represents physical manifestation in the material world. As we now know from scientific research, there is no separation between energy and matter (or, if you will, “spirit” and matter). Matter – what you “see” with your human eyes and brain – is simply energy frozen in time.

The evolution in consciousness that many of us are experiencing carries with it an ability to manifest thoughts into physical reality. It’s not just about “creative visualization.” Although that’s a good start, it’s a bit like a preschooler trying to paint the Sistine Chapel with Crayolas. Real manifestation ability takes long years of training and practice. And since we don’t understand the mechanisms 100 percent, it has taken a lot of experimentation – the provenance of Uranus.

One thing we do know – or at least heavily suspect – is that to transform our lives into a more enriching, creative existence, we have to dump outmoded beliefs and behaviors. That, too, is the provenance of Uranus, depicted most vividly by The Tower in the Tarot deck. If we don’t drop them willingly, they can get blasted out by circumstances that force us to see the errors in our thinking.

In a stunning example of synchronicity, this New Moon is conjunct the Great Attractor, a mass of something we don’t understand, located some 250 million light-years away, at roughly 14 degrees Sagittarius. We’re not entirely sure what it is, but it appears to have the mass of at least 10 of our Milky Way galaxies, and it’s sucking in surrounding galaxies at an alarming rate.

By contrast, half a sign away, toward the final degrees of Sagittarius, is the Galactic Center, a giant mass we also don’t entirely understand but which appears to be a birth channel. One destroys, the other creates. Is there a connection? As it also so happens, the next Full Moon – the culmination of the energies released at the New Moon – will be closely conjunct the GC.

The conjunction of Jupiter and Uranus, both direct, provides a pathway for sudden breakthroughs.

The potential for advances in spirituality is of galactic proportions. And remember, my definition of “spirituality” has to do with our ability to sense the invisible energies that course through the universe and to use those energies to our advantage and the advantage of our fellow humans. Part of that vision is seeing through the illusion of time.

The period between the New Moon and Full Moon won’t be without its complications. Mercury is about to turn retrograde (more about that in my next weekly forecast), and it’s going to be a turbulent one, with Mercury going out of phase in conjunction with Mars and Pluto. I strongly urge you to finish your holiday shopping this weekend. If you haven’t mailed your packages, get them en route ASAP!

Full Moon at 29*18 Taurus on Sunday November 21

The atmosphere will be charged with emotional energy. You may get a glimpse of a shift you can make to create a better balance between self-reliance and receiving support from others. Between 12:27pm-1:46pm eastern time, the atmosphere could become confusing and it's best to pull back your energy. After 1:46pm, the rest of the day will be clear and the mood will be sociable. Good for Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn; possible confrontation for Scorpio.

The opposition of the Sun and Moon in the fixed signs of Scorpio and Taurus is often a showdown over values. Resistance to change is a common response to a crisis over money or personal desires. However, the conflict between self-indulgent Taurus and transformational Scorpio is reduced by 90-degree squares to both from imaginative Neptune. Instead of struggling over limited resources and contrasting needs this dissolving planet reveals enough common interest for comfort and hunger to work as allies in pursuit of emotional and material fulfillment.

As ruler of Taurus, the goddess of love is still in the spotlight. Venus is now moving direct having stationed on the 18th.

While the focus continues to be on creativity, growth, and relationships, there is the potential for feelings of discomfort or annoyance with those who hold different values to our own.

Cultural, religious, or other differences of opinion may cause friction. While Venus in Libra is interested in harmony and keen to develop relationships, in her morning star phase she does so on her own terms and adheres passionately to her own standards, especially since she is about to re-enter Scorpio.

There is a strong desire to honour commitments to our personal standards, but Venus in Libra seeks compromise, negotiation, and diplomacy. Hence it seems likely that attempts will be made to maintain an air of pleasantness, coolness, and grace, which may be contrary to underlying motives. Nevertheless, our true colours will be at the forefront of all decisions.

Similarly, Venus in Libra is more cerebral and aesthetic than physical, but the Full Moon in Taurus emphasises our physical needs and our senses, in particular the sense of touch.

The potential exists for some awkward social moments as we try to engage with others more intimately and begin a new phase of relating and self expression. Passions and emotions are aroused by this full moon, but Libra wants us to avoid unpleasantness, argument, confrontation, or revealing its real feelings. One's true agenda will likely be revealed despite attempts to stay cool, calm and collected.

Any tensions or awkwardness felt at this Full Moon can ultimately lead towards greater awareness fostering deeper connections, intimacy, and understanding.

The Full Moon this month will be brightest on Saturday evening - don't forget to go outside at sunset and watch the sun go down in the west as the moon rises in the east; this is when you know you are a part of the cosmos. Being in the fixed earth sign of Taurus, this Full Moon is our sacred time to connect with Mother Earth and to admire all of the creatures who walk, swim, and fly within the protection of her blessings.

This Full Moon is preceded by Jupiter and Venus once again moving into direct motion on Thursday the 18th. How many of you have been waiting on what seem interminable delays? Both Jupiter and Venus have been retrograde, or in apparent backward motion as viewed from earth. Remember that the planets do not really move backwards, they just appear to do so because the orbit of the planets is elliptical, not round.

So, when the planets are retrograde, think of it as a time to 'catch up' in regards to issues related to the planet. Jupiter and Venus are considered to be the benefics, or favorable planets of western astrology, and to have them both station direct on the same day within hours of a favorable Sun trine Uranus (anything can happen) we engage this Full Moon with gratitude for a fruitful harvest.

Venus is about relationships, the way we socialize, and even personal adornment. Having moved backwards from Scorpio and into Libra, her recent retrograde was an excellent time to recognize and release old resentments and negative relationship patterns as well as strengthen positive friendships. Sounds good, right? I found myself longing to call old friends and to reconnect with family members. Amazingly, the synchronistic Universe brought people my way who were not actually blood relatives, but there were some uncanny similarities. And, I met new friends who felt as though they I have known them forever. These are the connections we can cherish and nurture as Venus moves ahead.

Jupiter retrograde does not have to whisper the horror that our prosperity/abundance might be stunted; or that the forward motion of our lives is somehow stunted. How about regarding it as a time to burn the fallow fields of unfulfilled dreams? If it didn't happen, maybe you didn't really want it. Or, perhaps the planning department was on vacation and you will learn to do it better next time.

Overall, when these planets are retrograde think of it as a time for review, catch up and clean up.\

The Sabian Symbol is for the moon is:

Taurus 30: A Peacock Parading On The Terrace Of An Old Castle.

Commentary: ‘A Peacock’ is ‘Parading’, showing off his fine feathers and beauty. Peacocks were often installed in regal palaces as a show of opulence or extravagance. This ‘Peacock’ is ‘Parading on the Terrace of an Old Castle’ which shows that he is in a place that has all of the trappings of wealth and tradition. The situation is probably well established, but as it is ‘Old’, it is probably also slowly breaking apart and showing signs of crumbling. ‘Peacocks’ can be a reminder of the “grand old days”. They are very territorial and will remain in a place long after the people have gone. Because of the many eyes displayed on their feathers they are said to be forever awake. ‘Peacocks’ are used as guard dogs in India because they make a shrieking noise when they perceive intrusion or danger.

Keywords: Tradition feeding ego-centered attraction. Grace and dignity. Splendor. Etiquette. Gardening. Enjoying the environment for its nature and beauty. Peacocks as “the watchers” and the Argus. Parading beauty. Beautiful old buildings. Empires that require protection. Issues of belonging and being allowed in. Prominent families. Inherited values. Castles and rambling estates. Beautiful colors.

The Caution: Risking integrity to display success. Strutting one’s stuff. Inviting envy from others. Believing that one is all things to many people. Overloading others. Showing off and demanding acknowledgment. Trying to convince others of something. Noisy displays of wealth. Neglected buildings.

The Sabian Symbol is for the sun is:

Scorpio 30: Children In Halloween Costumes Indulging In Various Pranks.

Keywords: The madman inside all of us. Astro-drama. The lifting of the veil between the living and the dead. Unintegrated energies playing tricks on the unwary. Tricksters. Creative surprises. Halloween. Trick or treat. Practical jokes played on the unwary. Roaming the streets. Dressing up. Ghouls and ghosts.

The Caution: Being unable to connect with real and immediate emotions. Contempt for the establishment. ‘Mucking around’ and not getting to the core of things. Evading one’s responsibilities through being silly or madcap. Not respecting other people's boundaries.

With this degree the trickster in you or others could be out, or someone may not be taking anything seriously (or perhaps taking things too seriously) and there could be some unease about what exactly is going on. Keeping a sense of play can be an important antidote to any weird feelings hanging in the air.

It's interesting to note that we enter the New Year, 2011 - with ALL planets in direct motion! Mercury is retrograde briefly from December 10 - 29th. Uranus (which has been retrograde since July) stations direct on December 5th. You have a great opportunity to use this remaining time between now and years' end to clean up old paperwork, relationships, and to resolve lingering legal issues. We can truly enter into 2011 to follow a new rainbow; the time to prepare, however, is now.

In the name of prosperity, growth, and abundance may the light of this Full Moon bring you shelter, good food, great friends, and solid ground for your sacred path.

Full Moon is in Taurus/Sun in Scorpio =what you have vs. what you want

Keywords for Scorpio and the 8th House = how to get it!!

Desire * Mystery * Agent of Change * Intensity * Accountability * Legacies

Accountability * Power * Depth * Soul Growth * Control * Death & Rebirth

**************************************

The Full Moon is always in the Sign opposite the Sun - as we leave the fall days of Scorpio, reflect on where you have been, how it felt, and what you want next. The ruling planet for Scorpio is PLUTO; note that this Pluto has a black heart. He sits alone in his icey cave far from the warmth of the sun. However, he longs for love and understanding. Scorpio helps us define that which we need to be free of - that is part of the lesson held within the next sign of Sagittarius!

New Moon at 13* Scorpio, November 6th at 12:52 am

November's Scorpio new Moon, falling on November 6, is one of communications, connections, making new contacts and renewing contacts with people from the past.

The most emotionally intense sign in the zodiac. And it is a get-your-act together time!

Ruled by the planet Mars, Scorpio is about determination. Decisions made under this sign usually stick since your will power will be stronger. Even if it takes effort, patience and a mega-ton of perseverance, you'll get to where you want to be eventually is what the New Moon tells you.

To make the most of the energies of the cosmos right now -- focus on the areas of your life where you want to make a change and decide if that is so important to you that you need to engage your whole being in it -- fully. This is not the time for whims and fancies. You must know down to the marrow of your bones that what you are aiming for is an expression of your real self. Not only does your head and heart need to be in alignment, your elements have to come together as well -- Fire, Earth, Air and Water. Any plan that you wish to launch on this New Moon must feed your idealism and be a true inspiration. It has to be practical and workable. You have to have thought it through and it has to feel just right. If you can do that and go after it with formidable determination -- then victory is yours!

Be prepared for a minor distraction on this day of the New Moon as Mercury forms a square to Neptune as well. You may find yourself the target of evasiveness or downright dishonesty from others. It is best to ignore everyone else and be self-sufficient. Or you may find yourself indulging in a day dream. Be firm with yourself, pay attention to details and the universe will reward you!

This new Moon in Scorpio (Exact on November 9th, 6:03 pm EST) is psychically rich, making it a great time to be still and tune into higher wisdom. Also known as Lunar Samhain, the veil between worlds is at its most crossable, making all kinds of spirit communication possible. With no lunar light, the spirit turns inward, to take a look around the personal interior, and ponder realms we can't see with our eyes.

The current communication theme is reinforced by this lunation's Sabian Symbol, “A Telephone Lineman At Work Installing New Connections.”

Commentary: ‘Telephone Linemen at Work Installing New Connections’ shows people working and concentrating on laying the ‘Lines’ for ‘Connections’ so that people may communicate with each other easily and effectively.

Keywords: Acupuncture and other therapies that work on the body’s meridians. The nervous system. The Internet. Forming new lines of communication. New connections taking place. Linking people up. Making sure that messages get through. Mobile phones, faxes, email. Networks and networking. Switchboards. Satellites. Wires. Mobile phones.

The Caution: Failing to see the necessity for repairs to personal communication. Becoming involved in other people’s lives. Gossip. News, thoughts, and ideas spreading rapidly and getting out of control. Constant chatting. Being fickle. Sabotage. Engaged signals.

At the same time, be careful to be clear with others, since muddled communication is a possibility. But the pipeline to your Higher Self is primed for your call!

When the Moon is new in Scorpio the Sun is also in Scorpio.

The New Moon is a time of beginnings. You can set intentions that grow with the lunar light and reach fruition at the Full Moon.

New Moon in Scorpio themes:

• personal power
• soul searching
• metamorphoses
• purging toxins
• transforming inner stagnation
• getting to the heart of your passions
• emotional vampirism (draining)
• courage to face the shadow

It's a Good Time to: purge old stuff and recycle; flush your body system with a detox or colonic; participate in shamanic healing or rituals; release what's keeping you from your goals; surrender to the alchemy of the dark; get to the root of shadow feelings like rage, jealousy, obsession; show tough love in a situation that calls for it; make the hard decision to let go; commit to your own passions; love deeply and fully; dive into a mystery; extract poisons in the body, mind or spirit; plant seeds for what you'd like to bring in over winter.

The New Moon on 6 November at 14 degrees Scorpio is conjunct the fixed star Zuben Elgenubi in the southern claw of the Scorpion. “It is well to remember here the association of this star with a scorpion’s claw, used for making love as well as for slaying its prey. It does not let go until one or other matter is complete and onlookers are not sure which of the two acts are in process.” [1]

This star is situated between Scorpio and Libra which are both to do with both love and sex unions. The closest aspect to the Moon is a sextile to Juno. So we continue the last lunation’s theme of thinking about our karmic ties.Only this time it could be to do with repairing relationships as Eric Morse goes on to say that this star in better aspect (sextile Juno) “is often just the right moment to repair a relationship and to reconsider an earlier harsh judgment.”

In earlier times, travel was planned by the Moon, since it was considered dangerous to travel on a moonless night. What might emerge from the darkness? This new Moon offers a chance to encounter that vast landscape within, sometimes full of hidden dangers, but full of potential for healing. Scorpio is a sign that seeks out underground reservoirs of energy, to be turned into power. Think of what it's like to find cathartic release for something that's dogged you for many years. Your energy is suddenly freed up, so you can channel it into your daily life.

Scorpio rightly deserves its lusty reputation, but the desire serves a purpose, too. This sign is about spreading seeds of potential, and burying them where they will grow best. Scorpio is a sign that understands the nature of power, and how to shift it in unseen ways. This new Moon offers a chance to dig deep within you for "source material" for your genius dreams. This may mean planting seeds and patiently nurturing them, or taking your raw material, and changing its form.

What are your deepest longings? If stuck swampy emotions and bad habits are keeping you from your goals, use this new Moon to set a serious intention. It's easy to set goals, but the difference here is that deep resolve we get when we mean business. Scorpio inspires determination, and the courage to face inner demons and resistance, to break through to the other side.

If this new Moon finds you taking a soulful journey, draw on your own spiritual strength and allies for support. It's important to balance out these forays into the dark with things that refill the emotional well. I'm a huge lover of long baths, and this new Moon is ideal for taking a serious soak. Share any insights with a trusted friend, one that won't judge what's coming up. Rather than letting your emotional intensity isolate you, allow it to draw you closer to others. Get lots of rest, since you're more likely to experience lucid dreaming or remember lessons from "night school" now.

But it's also a time just to surrender to the mystery. It may sound vague, but it's a frame of mind we all encounter from time to time. Let it remind you that there's more to our existence that what we can see and experience firsthand. This new Moon can be a reminder of what's deeply true for us, and the emotional power that it represents. It's about encountering that hidden energy within, and giving it the momentum to totally transform our lives.

All New Moons take us into the dark, so we can mix with the Void, and emerge anew. This one is the Mother of all Dark Moons, in Scorpio, the sign of death that births the new. If we choose to, we can seek deep soul healing now. Or we might find sexual healing. You might just ask spirit to heal what's hurting. What's needed now is a heart open to change, and the willingness to

The New Moon chart shows the Sun-Moon in Scorpio, along with Venus. A main theme here is surrendering to a deep healing, release, purge of what's become toxic in your life. It's having the courage to look at what needs to go, in order for you to grow. It's facing fears of being enveloped by the 'crazy' as it's being released and integrated. It's not trying to tame that primal energy, but honor it by finding a way to express it. That might be through some catharsis, sex, sustained creative projects, or ritual.

In the Crucible

Just like the last Full Moon, there's a lot of tension (squares) that creates internal pressure in all of us. The biggie now is the square between Saturn and Pluto, which is exact right before the New Moon. This one is going to be long term, with no easy outs. It involves the ground beneath us and the diseased state of our institutions (Pluto in Capricorn).

Since Pluto rules Scorpio, it's significant that it's so close to this potent New Moon. The cure may be extreme, since the dis-ease is so embedded in our culture. And in the process, those that fear losing power are likely to lash out. But take heart that Saturn is now in Libra, the sign of moral conscience, justice and diplomacy. The friction of this square will be in play, as a cosmic re-balancer of a world out of whack.

Quantum Leaps

The Sun-Moon in Scorpio are in a tense square to planets in Aquarius (Neptune, Jupiter). This adds urgency to the need to release what's in the personal shadows, so you can keep up with the quickening process of the collective. It also makes it feel like a collective deep healing process, that's personal, but part of the bigger story of humanity. As you heal, you contribute to the healing of everyone, since we're all linked.

It's timely to look at your friends and associations to see if it's holding you back. As you go through major changes, you might be drawn to new friends on your wavelength. The New Moon brings tension to this area, and might alert you to the need to travel in new circles.

Venus square Mars

This is yet another provocative aspect at the New Moon. Venus drives us to be authentic with our feelings, and inspires us to lose the fake smile. This can be a highly creative aspect, if we express the uniqueness of our genuine story. We honor what we've been through, by leaving denial behind, and by claiming it as part of who we are. Our own darkness and story of healing can be inspiring to others, as part of song, art, and sharing.

Shocks to the Heart

The Sun-Moon in Scorpio are in a harmonious trine to Uranus (the awakener) in Pisces. As you go into the shadow, this speeds the healing process, and opens you to forgiveness of yourself and others.

You may have startling dreams that crack things open, and unravel a psychic mystery that has had you bound. It's a time of dark imagination, where mystery lurks in the shadows, and can be the stuff of great art.

New Moon Rituals

The days leading to total lunar darkness pull us inward. There's no need to figure anything out. You can go far with this plunge into healing, by looking at your own resistance to let go. What we clutch tightly, as if our lives depended on it, is often the very thing we've got to let go of. And in the release, great stores of energy are restored, and available for your use. It feels risky, but the rewards are great. A New Moon Ritual might involve a commitment to let go. Only you know what's tying up your vital energies, or where you're losing power.

Sign of the month: Scorpio

October 23 to November 22

Symbol: Scorpion
• Element: Water
• Quality: Fixed
• House: 8th: Birth, Life & Death Cycle
• Planet: Pluto
• Color: Dark Red
• Body Part: Reproductive Organs
• Trait: Intense, Dramatic, Mysterious
• Semi-precious stone: Garnet
• Keyword: I desire

Astrologically speaking, the Sun stands for your inner nature and stamps your innermost character. Slinky Scorpio is your sign, so the Sun blazed in a passionate water sign on your birthday. Scorpio, the eighth sign of the Zodiac, is feminine, ruled by fierce Mars, the warrior planet and dark Pluto, the planet of transformation. A fixed (strong and solid) sign, Scorpio governs will and authority. Scorpio people are passionate and emotional, with very deep feelings. Although you are a loyal and dedicated friend, you are fiercely competitive, subject to fits of vindictive jealousy – and can be quite manipulative in pursuit of your goals.

Symbols for Scorpio are the scorpion, a ground-dwelling killer with a poisonous sting in its tail, and the eagle, a far-seeing predator soaring above petty problems into the spiritual sky. Scorpio's real involvement is not primarily based on love or even pleasure, but on the control and understanding of human emotions and the role they play in the mysterious processes of life and death. Though you may not spend your life pondering the mysteries of life and death, you are inquisitive and probing, fascinated with how things and people work. Your mental and physical powers of recuperation are remarkable — and truly evolved (eagle) Scorpios can learn to use their power to help and inspire others.

Scorpio is ruled by Mars, the warrior, and Pluto, the transformer. Both planetary influences may be seen in your personality. Ambitious, energetic, you seek activities that are economically rewarding, as well as mentally or physically challenging. The jealousy associated with Mars and Pluto is minimal unless other factors in the chart support such a trait (say Scorpio, Aries, or Capricorn Sun). You possess the cleverness and mechanical ability associated with Mars, as well as the innate resourcefulness associated with Pluto.

Attracted to others with strong, magnetic personalities, you are oriented toward gathering resources of all kinds. For example, you consciously or subconsciously tend to establish relationships with strong or powerful people in the belief such contacts may prove useful in some way. You can be quite secretive about personal affairs, a trait that often escapes the attention of most people you meet. You are so accommodating and pleasant that, unless others make serious attempts to probe beneath the surface, your real personality and activities may stay hidden indefinitely.

You have remarkable recuperative powers that allow you to recover from physical, mental, or economic adversities that would destroy many others. When properly focused, your energy is formidable and you quietly keep going long after everyone else runs out of steam. A Scorpio Ascendant indicates potential for afflictions to the head and face as well as illnesses affecting the reproductive organs.

Inside the house Scorpio points to locations that are cold and dark, low down or underground or near water used to eliminate waste. These include sinks (and the cupboards underneath them that contain poisonous cleaning agents), toilets and drains (inside and out); cellars, pantries and larders (being cold and dark), undeveloped basements, areas that suffer from damp and decay, or have been left untenanted and remain in need of renovation or demolition. In the garden Scorpio will represent muddy areas, compost heaps, the sunless north-facing wall, inaccessible areas, pot holes, puddles and stagnant ponds.

Countries & cities: Include Northern Bavaria, Norway, Algeria, Morocco, Catalonia, and Valencia in Spain, Urbrino, and Frejus in Italy, Vienne in France, Ghent in Belgium, and Frankfurt in Germany.

Colours: Generally defined as brown, although sometimes described as dark red, grey red or black red, from which we can assume a dark, blood-red brown.

Stones & Metals: Stones and metals fall under the rulership of planets, not signs, but through its association with Mars, Scorpio is often linked with iron, ocre, bloodstone, jasper, red lead, or vermilion.
