Libra Full Moon on March 29th, at 10:25 pm EDT

When the Moon is full in Libra, the Sun is in the opposite sign of Aries. Libra is a cardinal sign, known for pushing the envelope, impacting others, forging ahead, being at the leading edge. Libra is an air sign that is fair-minded, artistic, socially energetic, and mentally forceful.

Full Moon in Libra: glamming it up; adding sophistication to your wardrobe; luxury and refinement; righting a wrong; pursuing justice; being forceful with an alternative narrative; pushing your ideas through (with tact); choosing another path; weighing your options; clear-sight; reaching for ideals; championing human rights; being a voice for truth; overcoming polarity-thinking.

The Sabian Symbol for the Full Moon in Libra 19* is:
A canoe approaching safety through dangerous waters This is a symbol of the necessary validation of all experience through an acceptance of risk, and of the refinement of personal skills through a direct contact with the recurrent experiences of everyday living. Here the genius of the race is preserved by a fresh and constant participation in life’s transient situations. There is always the goal through which man is led to develop his powers. The keyword is competency. When positive, the degree is conscious and skilled resort to the course of action which leads most surely to success, and when negative, a primitive love of adventure and a wholly unintelligent faith in sheer good luck.

This Full Moon illuminates: relationship imbalances and strengths; areas screaming for justice; bright spots to follow; creative inspirations; ways to make life more pleasurable; culture that elevates.

It's a Good Time to:
• Move past right/left, partisan thinking.
• Identify areas that call out for balance -- more work? more play?
• Resolve a lingering conflict with someone you know.
• Mediate a dispute.
• Indulge in a spa day (on a budget, try this at home).
• Read a book or article that challenges your mind.
• Network, mingle, go on a first date.
• Attend an art gallery opening, or explore the museum with a friend.
• Enjoy a rooftop or mountaintop candlelit dinner for two.
• Weigh the pros and cons of a situation.

The Queen of the Night, Venus is in Libra for this full Moon. Libra evokes the instinct for balance, justice, and relationship harmony. We discover who we are, by the reflection in another's eyes. But with other tense dynamics in play, this Venus-inspired lunar peak is not all moonlight and roses. What's reflected in another's eyes is the potential Best Self...the one that needs to emerge into being, to meet the emergency of the times.

When the Sun is in Aries, we feel our oats -- the inner vitality -- and sense of confidence in who we are. We're courageous and ready to act. It's that sense of the dynamic Self that can find a mirror in relationships this full Moon. We can encourage each other to be our best, to do what needs to be done. It's the urgency of Now, since Aries lives in the present. What needs to be balanced out, so you can unlock your potential?

If you believe that you emerged into this world at the right time, then it's also possible that all you need is within. The Sun, together with Venus retrograde in Aries, activates that part of you that lies dormant, and marks it in bold. You can build on what's lit up, and play off others (Libra), in mutual support. You can claim what you truly value (Venus), and take steps that will bring an out of whack situation back into balance.

Sign of the Month: Aries

Cardinal Fire

Masculine (+) Yang
Key: "I Am"
Symbol: The Ram
Ruler: Mars
Exaltation: Sun
Detriment: Venus
Fall: Saturn

Aries is the first Sign of the Zodiac, and that's pretty much how those born under this Sign see themselves: first. Arians are the leaders of the pack, first in line to get things going. Whether or not everything gets done is another question altogether, for Arians far prefer to initiate than to complete..

The Positive Side of Aries: The Arien has many positive points to his character. The Negative Side of Aries: Everybody has his less positive qualities-and Aries is no exception...

As the first sign of the zodiac, Aries cannot help putting themselves first, although they are very affectionate and generous towards their loved ones. They have warm and enthusiastic natures and can be very demonstrative. The Sun blazed in dynamic Aries, a fire sign, on your birthday. The Sun in astrology stands for your inner nature, the light of your essential character. Aries is the first sign of the Zodiac, a masculine sign ruled by the warrior planet Mars, whose motto must be "Crash through, or crash! A cardinal (creative and inventive) sign, Aries the Ram governs leadership and initiative. Aries people are bold and self-confident, although they do tend to be overly impulsive.

The Sun, the ruler of our inner nature, is very well placed in Aries, the sign of its exaltation. This energy is very attractive, even compelling, and few can resist being carried along in the jetstream. Ariens are always overflowing with ideas, schemes and plans to conquer the world, for a well-aspected Sun in Aries radiates power and vitality. Many a moth has been burned in its flame! Life, of course, is one long party (which the more mothlike among us may find a just little wearing...).

Flair and Originality

Ariens are great organisers, full of flair and originality, although usually lacking discipline and the capacity for prolonged effort (minions must be found to do the slog work!). You are intuitive and articulate, with the capacity to inspire others, especially in projects which have a clear outcome and do not require a long lead-time.

You have masses of energy and courage and will rush in where angels fear to tread, for the Arien ego can be rather overbearing. Ariens are risk-takers and love to take chances, whether in love, or in the slots online! Undue optimism, or impatience and desire for self-aggrandisement can result in wasted effort or even severe setbacks and disappointment.

A Determined Fighter

The emblem for Aries is the Ram, a determined fighter and a powerful adversary, with a strong urge to express himself over the widest possible field of endeavour. Is the grass greener on the other side of the hill? Of course it is, isn't it, Aries?

Creative Aries, being a cardinal sign, loves to be the leader and can organise fantastic and impressive ventures. Unfortunately, despite your desire to be the front-runner in all you do, sometimes you do get bored with the whole affair and can just wander off, or sit back and allow the lesser folk to have their way. This can see the whole house of cards collapsing, but happily your enthusiam is easily roused and when you set your mind to it you can inspire others to stick to those essential jobs that sometimes seem no more than the merest details to the noble Ram. You see, painful as this may seem, you really need the team as much as the team needs you!

Aries Rules the Head

Aries rules the head, brain and eyes, so people with Aries active in their charts are subject to head injury, headaches, general problems with organs in the head and fevers (although the nose is ruled by Scorpio). You are all extremists and for this reason can fall prey to stress-related ailments and mental problems. However, although you can be highly-strung, your great fund of energy enables you to survive where other less exuberant folks might succumb.

Your colours are red and white. Aries rules metallic iron and your birthstone is the brilliant diamond, symbolising clear strength, purified under pressure. Nature creates precious diamonds out of crumbly, coal-black carbon, by applying intense heat and pressure for a very long time. Flowers for Aries include the red poppy, geraniums, honeysuckle, and hollyhocks.

Aries Rising

Iis both positive and dynamic. It endows you with a go-getting, achievement-oriented personality, for you like to be in charge and want to make a big impression under all circumstances. Dedicated to satisfying personal ambitions and pursuing your own ends with complete disregard for the feelings of others doesn't necessarily mean you are always selfish, my dear, but in your haste and eagerness to reach that goal or accomplish that oh so important purpose, it is so easy for you to forget other people's needs, or that what you do may react adversely on others. A powerful inner drive and a strong need for accomplishment, combined with your indomitable Aries courage, urges you to go for things others might think are too risky, too foolish, or just too much work.

Enthusiastic Aries has loads of energy. Once inspired, you rarely hesitate to act and you usually get where you want to go. But be warned! Your lively enthusiasm can get out of hand; you tend to overestimate your own abilities, or the influence you have. In general you maintain an informal approach to life, with easy, open mannerisms and an attitude of "take me as I am". Confronting situations openly and with force need not necessarily brand you as unduly aggressive, for you can be quiet and hard-working, sublimating your energy inconspicuously in low-key activities. However your innate restlessness makes it difficult for you to develop an extended concentration span, control your untidiness, or get truly focused and organised.

Ruled by Mars, the fiery warrior, many Arians have reddish hair, ruddy complexions, or a distinctive birthmark on their heads or faces. The Aries mouth has a characteristic down-turn, often associated with a longish face. Being your own boss makes life easier, but you can work in a regular job as long as you don't find the work objectionable and are treated fairly by supervisors. You can be easy-going about many things, but any attempt to ram authority down your throat gets your hackles rising. No doubt the sincerity of your passions makes up to some degree for the rashness of your actions....

You have mechanical abilities or cleverness in one form or another. Fevers, eye strain, accidental injury to the head, skin rashes, overwork, migraine headaches, and insect bites are your most likely physical complaints. Your extremism leads to mental and emotional instability in some situations and you get distinctly stressed out by being thwarted in the pursuit of your goals.

The Vernal Spring Equinox

Marks the beginning of the new astrological year, as the Sun enters the first degree of Aries, the Ram. It happens in 2010 on March 20 at 1:32 pm EDT, (but bear in mind that the Equinox is a day and a night, a phase not a moment). This major calendrical event is the focus of religious and social festivities in all cultures, and is the key to the timing of Easter.

The death of the old year and the rebirth of the new has been celebrated on or around the spring equinox. Aries is the sign of the exaltation of the Sun, for it marks the time when the days of light begin to outstrip the nights of darkness (for this reason the Ram is also the Fall of Saturn).

The word equinox means "equal night": the duration of the day being equal to that of the night, an event which occurs but twice a year, the one marking the astrological beginning of spring and the other the ending of summer. Interestingly, the actual equal duration (equilux) need not occur on the official Equinox, which is more cultural and celebratory than scientific. The Autumn, or Fall Equinox marks the harvest celebrations in September.

Spring is a time of new beginnings, both spiritually and physically. Crops germinate and shoots peek through the earth, flowers bloom, young animals gambol about and everything feels new. It is a truly energising time, when people feel bold and ready to take on the world! In an earlier era, the Equinox marked New Year's Day (in Christian times, the New Year marker was taken on by Lady Day – up to 1752 when the Gregorian Calendar was introduced in England). It is still the beginning of the year in various calendars, including the Iranian and the Bahai.

Astrologically, the March Equinox marks the beginning of the tropical astrological year, being the entry of the Sun into the Cardinal Fire Sign of Aries, the Ram. Aries is traditionally ruled by Mars, so the ancient Roman festivals of the equinox centered around Mars (hence the name of the month "March"). The Lupercalia was a fertility festival at this time, said by Cicero to be so ancient as to have been instituted before civilisation and law existed. Interestingly, the name "Easter" derives from the ancient fertility festival of the goddess Eostre, the teutonic goddess of spring. All cultures have spring festivals of this type and the Vernal Equinox is still widely celebrated as a holiday in many countries across the world.

Thanks to a rare retrograde period, Mars has been travelling through the constellation of Ursa Major (traditionally known for expressing a martial nature), contacting several of the stars involved. Ursa Major, the Great Bear, is rarely good for nations and political leaders whose charts are affected. Fortunately, Mars turned direct again on March 10, 2010, in the first degree of Leo, remaining in that degree for much of the month, forming a potent trine with the Sun at the Equinox. Mars is at this time in conjunction with Talitha, in the forepaw of the Great Bear, offering a guide to the nations as they turn from the angry persuasions of the retrograde phase. The Sun in Aries and Mars in Leo at the Equinox are in the favourable relationship known as mutual reception, greatly aiding the benefits associated with the trine aspect. It's an ego-boosting time.

Some of the most highly favoured activities include those involving men, or products and services related to men, military manoeuvres, sports, surgical procedures, manufacturing, and firearms. The energy is dynamic and will give a big boost to courageous activities, and a dynamic push to get ahead. Just plain good luck can save you from accidents and other mishaps. Nevertheless, do not take things too much for granted, or become too sure of yourself, as Mars is not to be trusted, especially when so highly stimulated. During this phase, Mars is moving slowly forward, but returns to full speed ahead by May 17th.

New Moon at 26*, Pisces, March 15 at 5:01 p.m. EDT

This new moon is in Pisces, the last sign of the Zodiac. It's the phase where all streams return to the big ocean, and there's a realization of Oneness. Often, it's painted as soft and a push-over. But Pisces swims in deep waters, and when it's a major player, we're seeing just the part that's visible. The churning happens deep within, and requires a lot of solitude for this process to be nurtured as a source of strength.

It's an ideal new moon to find your own way of diving within. One way is meditation, but each of us is unique, and only you know what takes you to that place that's both private, but somehow linked up to higher planes. This is THE new moon to choose another path, and turn inward to find what you need to sustain you through hard times. Since Pisces is the natural artist, this diving inward is also a path to greater personal creativity, too. Your intentions may even merge the two with divinely inspired creative pursuits, as in Zen Drawing or Ritual Theatre.

The Sun-Moon alignment in Pisces is shocked and lit up by Uranus winding down it's long transit through the sign of mystics and unity. Since the big U is a generational planet, it's been creating surprising moments of heart Oneness. Uranus rules the Internet and wave currents, and has been an instant uniter of the globe. You can almost feel the global heart aching together, with suffering intensifying in our world. This awakens the empathy of Pisces, as well as intense emotions that can have their own momentum. Uranus is a key player now, and this new moon gives the Awakener a starring role, with these heart surges nudging us to evolve.

Will we step up to the challenge of creating a new world? Are we doing that with our thoughts and actions each day? We're living the plot line of a thriller, where there seem to be shadowy figures that prefer the masses to be cowering in fear and under control. The fear paralyzes us, and makes us forget we have power. This year, with Jupiter in Aquarius, the path to finding faith is joining together to re-create the world from new visions. It's not a hippy reach for some utopian ideal; we are at the crossroads, and now is the time.

Just gaze upon these planets in sparkly Aquarius -- Jupiter, Mercury, Mars, Neptune, Chiron, as well as the directional path marker, the North Node. The Aquarian way is the high road, since it sees from a lofty perspective, and sees that anything is possible. You might find yourself charting a new career path, based on a desire to be part of this transition. It gives weight to individual perceptions, so you trust what you know. And then, it draws you toward kindred spirits that share your vision. That's why it's an amazing time to mingle among groups that are actively living your values.

Lusty Venus in Aries is a social icebreaker, and is now in a supportive sextile to many of the Aquarius planets. It puts an urgent fire into the idea of finding your tribe. And it rushes ahead, with creating support networks, which is a very wise thing to do right now.

Another auspicious aspect is Pluto's sextile to planets in Pisces. This may help soften the many landings of this freefall, as Pluto in earth sign Capricorn seeks a solid grounding for the new. It frames the urgent debates about the global economy and natural resources, with the most vulnerable in mind. The Saturn-Uranus opposition is also still in play. With every outburst, catalytic act or release of Uranus, there's a balancing force that seeks to re-set the structure. It's revolution versus authority, and many are predicting more social unrest. But it's also finding workable, practical new structures that will meet the cry of the collective soul.

So this new moon is a portal to choosing love or fear. And with Aquarius and Pisces so plentiful, it's a love that encircles all of humanity. We are more powerful than we realize. What's cultivated within, is then reflected by the kind of world we live in. This new Moon is a chance to re-create the world, one that is a mirror of who we are, at our most compassionate, unique, colorful, visionary and hopeful.

The New Moon is a time of beginnings. You can set intentions or do a New Moon Ritual that grows with the lunar light and reaches fruition at the Full Moon.

The sabian symbol for 26 Pisces is:

Watching the very thin moon crescent appearing at sunset, different people realize the time has come.

This is a symbol of universal initiative as a basic dynamic in any personal scheme of things, and it reveals itself most simply in man’s instinctive and often blind outreach to the reality in which he participates. His action must be tentative until he achieves his own true self-discovery, but he makes a fine skill of his uncertainty and refuses to commit himself except as he encounters a full response to his deeper realization and ultimate motives. The keyword is diversifying. When positive, the degree is a thoroughgoing capitalization on life’s transitions and effective development of every emerging potentiality of self, and when negative, a completely disruptive vacillation.
