Capricorn

The sign of Capricorn is a feminine sign and seeks to be a useful and effective woman or man. Those with Capricorn sun, rising or moon sign in their natal chart tend to gravitate toward worthwhile and practical causes. In relationships, Capricorn values self-sufficiency society, traditions and responsibility. These characteristics and traits make them very dependable and their word is their bond. However, they may seem a bit cold or distant. They do love to belong and fit well into organized structures. Though they may fear losing their sense of identity in love relationships, they can be captivated by dreams of completely satisfying their partner.

What are Rising Signs and Ascendants?
Your rising sign, or ascendant, represents your personality and is determined by the planet on the horizon on the day you were born in the place you were born. This changes approximately every hour. Knowing the month, day, time and city of your birth, astrologers can determine which planet was on the horizon and thus determine your rising sign and ascendant, which are synonyms.
Most astrologers will tell you that your rising sign is as important as your sun sign. While the sun sign represents a person's inner self and inner experience of life, the rising sign is generally interpreted as your outwardly appearing self.
Many people, when guessing a person's sun sign, might actually infer their rising sign and ascendant as they are so closely related to personality. Many things about a person that aren't explained by birth sign are revealed by their rising sign.

What are Moon Signs?

As you may have guessed, your moon sign is calculated like your sun sign and represents the constellation in astrology in which the moon was located at the place and time of your birth.
The moon's influence on earth is great. Just think of the tides. No less great is the moon's influence on people, over 70% comprised of water! We've all heard of lunatics, which comes from luna, meaning moon, and werewolves changing under the full moon. Symbols such as these remind us of just how closely tied the moon's cycle of waxing and waning over the course of each month can be to our emotional, psychological and physical state. Problems tend to come to a head and issues reach their culmination at the full moon. The new moon is thought to represent fresh beginnings.
A person's moon sign is considered in astrology to be closely tied to their emotional makeup and feelings.
Sun in Capricorn
As someone born when the Sun was in Capricorn, you lean toward a conservative approach to most matters and you possess a strong sense of duty. You are a hard worker and you will persist with a determined will toward a desired goal. You are capable of tremendous self discipline when necessary. Your cautious nature stems from an innate knowledge that impulsive actions may lead to mistakes that are more time consuming and costly in the long run. Many Capricorns find themselves in life situations whereby they must take responsibility for others in some way.
Moon in Capricorn
With your Moon in the sign of Capricorn, you probably have an emotional need to achieve status and success of some kind. Even if you are not the type to worship status symbols, there is a part of you that definitely enjoys attainment of these things. You have a serious minded approach to life and an earnest sense of duty toward most matters. You can be quite sensitive about yourself but you also have the ability to bypass your emotions in order to cope with disappointment and pain. This can give others the impression that you are unsympathetic or unfeeling.
 Capricorn on the ascendant
Capricorn on the rise produces a personality that is serious, prudent and patient. Saturn rules Capricorn, and becomes the ruling planet in your chart. The Saturn influence suggests the most responsible type of personality, and gives a "never say die" approach to life that is the essence of your nature.
The Capricorn Ascendant also gives a reserve and a restraint that can make you seem very austere and even melancholy. You appear critical and cold because of an ethical and righteous attitude that duty must be done. This is a complex sign.
You seem aloof and remote, yet an elegant quality may conceal an inherent shyness. You are somewhat timid, and you may even suffer from feelings of inadequacy, especially in the early years of your life. Very straight-laced and proper behavior is sometimes a facade hiding a sense of insecurity or of feelings that you are unwanted or unappreciated.
You may be somewhat a workaholic and expect those around you to share such dedication to duty. You can be judgmental of others on a variety of issues. This often strains personal relationships. Because you're such a perfectionist with your work, you procrastinate a great deal. You are conservative in your actions and habits, and will remain this way even if you accumulate considerable wealth.
Usually, Capricorn on the rise produces an ambitious person. Yet you have more concern with your degree of prestige and status, than with the amount of money that achieving your goals may eventually bring. You seem very serious and old before your time while you are in your youth; even as a child, you are likely to be very self-sufficient. Sometimes responsibility is assumed at an early age.
Like the Capricorn symbol, the Mountain Goat, you climb to the top in a very slow, sure-footed way, always staying on solid ground and taking your sweet time about it. There is much stability in your makeup and you rarely become discouraged, even when you are faced with frequent setbacks and roadblocks. The combination of your superior organizing ability and overwhelming determination assures your eventual, if sometimes delayed, success.

New Moon today in Capricorn at 1:06 PM

This last new Moon of 2011 is conjunct Pluto, which gives you laser-like focus that you'll be able to use to your benefit -- as long as you don't cross the line into obsession. Right now, you have a good sense of where you want to go and what you want to achieve. Still, flexibility counts, so be open to tweaking your plans. With fortunate Jupiter in money-making Taurus trine this new Moon, someone out there is willing to back your efforts as long as you demonstrate your effectiveness. (Just watch for the Uranus square, which promises a few surprises along the way.) More than anything be sure to use this time to pour your energy into your plans for the future. You'll be amazed by what you can achieve!

This lunation symbolizes a new beginning in the cardinal earth sign of Capricorn. It's a time during which we can focus on some of the constructive traits of the sign of the Goat--tenacious, resourceful, disciplined, wise, ambitious, prudent, constant--and consider how to positively incorporate these qualities into our lives. Now, we can focus on practical and attainable long-term goals, work on developing maturity and common sense, prepare for the future, make commitments and recognize responsibilities, and nurture our dreams in a realistic manner.
With this potent Capricorn energy, we have the chance to create some serious order in our lives. The Sun and the Moon are square Uranus and trine Jupiter at the time of the New Moon, suggesting more punch and a high level of surprise to the new beginning - something that knocks us out of our comfort zone temporarily. Nevertheless, it's time to make some solid plans, and to set the stage for reaping the rewards from our new beginnings, as little or big as they may be, in approximately two weeks' time after the Full Moon occurs.
One of Capricorn's "lessons" is acceptance of the concept that reasonable boundaries and rules actually do offer us freedom--freedom from worry and chaos, for example. Setting goals for ourselves allows us to focus on what really matters. With this potent Capricorn energy, we have the chance to make important changes in our lives.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 2 degrees and 34 minutes of Capricorn, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 28 to 30 degrees of the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) and 0 to 8 degrees of the Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) most significantly.

What does it mean in each different sign?

Every new moon is different, and this gives you the chance to claim the energies of each different sign. Even if you don't have planets in the sign for a given month, it falls somewhere in your chart. We each have elements of the entire zodiac in our make-up, with some more emphasized than others.

It is a powerful time for sending out our prayers, wishes, desires to the Universe

Sagittarius

Sagittarians are known as the "favorites of the gods" for good reason: These folks are famous for their generosity, humor and optimism, as well as their ability to see the best is every situation, no matter how dire the circumstances. A Sagittarius will find a real reason to celebrate each and every day, something due in no small part to Jupiter, this sign's planetary ruler that's best known for benevolence. Of course, the other side of this coin is excess and extravagance, so in addition to knowing how to laugh -- and how to make others laugh -- Sagittarians are also experts at overdoing everything. At the same time, if a Sag has to be restricted to just one of anything, it better be the most impressive of its kind!
Sagittarians are also famous for their love of travel and philosophy -- these people crave knowledge and will spare no effort to satisfy their innate curiosity. Sag's own personal philosophy is that life is nothing more than a series of extended vacations, which is why so many born under the sign of the Archer end up living in a different city, state or even country than where they grew up.

When it comes to relationships, Sagittarians often find that some of their most successful ones are with four-legged creatures -- their connection to anything with fur, feathers and even leaves is legendary. Romantically speaking, if you're a human, you can only have a Sag of your very own if you're willing to hold them with an open palm; restrictions will not be tolerated. However, if you let your Sag sweetie know you care, but allow them to live as they see fit, you'll have gained an intelligent, witty and highly impressive partner whose long-term loyalty will astound you.

One warning about Sagittarians: Don't ever ask them a question if you can't withstand an honest answer. They're bound to tell the truth above all else, regardless of the consequences -- that way, at least they can be sure you know exactly who they are. And while Sagittarians can get along with just about anyone, many of them are drawn to those born under other Fire signs also living by the motto, "What you see is truly what you get."

You are a gambler and an adventurer at heart, one who loves to take risks, to discover and explore new worlds, and to take the untried path rather than the safe, reliable one. You are an independent soul, freedom-loving, and often very restless. You need a lifestyle that provides opportunities for travel, movement, change, and meeting new people. A steady routine which offers much in the way of security but little in the way of space and freedom is odious to you.

Flowers purple flowers, or holiday bouquets like mistletoe, purple lilac, purple dahlia, blue hydrangea, purple bearded iris, poinsettias, allium.
Animals are friendly and playful varieties, like dogs, gazelle, seals. The mythical centaur. Birds with messages like the stork, skylark, peace dove, turkey, hawk.
Sagittarians are thinking creatures, always seeking to know the big picture. They're known to take the moral high ground, and express loyalty to truth (as they see it) above all else. The blunt style of the Archer cuts through obfuscation, manipulation, or emotional heaviness. Sagittarius burns with a passion for lighting up what's most inspiring, and expansive.
At the extreme edges, Sagittarius is self-righteous and too casual with the feelings of others.
Sagittarius thrives on finding meaning by pulling together threads from every direction. They shine in interdisciplinary fields, where there's always room to learn more. They're highly social and fun-loving.

In relationships, Sagittarius is friendly and cheerful, with an infectious optimism and a love for humor which can take the form of teasing. They can be somewhat restless or even occasionally quick tempered and sometimes their optimism is blind. They can be careless, one of their less desirable personality traits. Sagittarius is honest, though sometimes this manifests as characteristic tactlessness. They are also philosophical and intellectual, seeking the meaning of life.
Sagittarius is happiest when exploring and traveling. They just love adventure. Highly intuitive, Sagittarius is also strong willed. Generally considered the most service oriented of the zodiac signs, Sagittarians are very sensitive with strong female (yin) energy. In love, Sagittarius males and females make faithful spouses. They are very sincere, and ardent. They also possess warm, kind and generous personality traits. However, their personality needs to feel free and they do not tolerate feeling hemmed in well. They sometimes overwork at the expense of their relationships. Sexually, Sagittarius can be very flirtatious and have quite passionate temperaments.
Spiritually, Sagittarius is philosophical and intellectual, seeking the meaning of life. In fact, Sagittarius rules the house of philosophy in zodiac astrology. Sagittarius men and women are also passionate about justice and go out of their way for what they believe is right.
Professionally, Sagittarius make excellent teachers are keen researchers and possess excellent organizational skills. They thrive where there is variety and where they are able to teach others and make the information they process available to others.

Sagittarius: Positive Qualities
When you think big, the whole world is your playground, and everyone is your friend. You have no time or interest in details—save that for Virgo—you see the big picture, and you think in bold strokes.

Much like the two other fire signs—Aries and Leo—you're dynamic and charismatic: You have friends in all areas of your life and a few very dose ones. Most people are attracted to you by your unbridled optimism and good-natured directness. In a room full of strangers, you'll be one of the first to break the ice with some silly gesture and get the party moving. You see no reason to be shy, or for that matter, delicate (more on this later).

Sagittarius: Trouble Areas
You have too much pride. Even if you know logically that you're losing an argument, you'll do your darndest to try to twist it to your advantage. You can't stand losing, because deep down you're insecure—Sagittarius is the most insecure sign in the zodiac—so you do everything in your power to hide it. Your talent for debate, though, usually means you will win. But should you always?

The fact that you dislike details means you get impatient easily. Little annoyances like losing your keys or fixing a leaky faucet just make you frustrated—you're a big-idea thinker, not a fuss-budget. Just relax and think logically—you're terrific at that—and all will be fine.

Sagittarius: Physical Qualities and Activities
As the hunter and sportsman of the zodiac, virtually all athletic pursuits are fair game. You're especially fond of those with a direct connection to the centaur, however, such as horse racing, polo, any sort of riding, shooting, or archery.

You're well-developed physically, so you'll have no problem leading your team in home runs, baskets, or touchdowns. In fact, unlike Aries, the other great sporting sign, you thrive in team sports. You're the first to dive for the ball, even if it means splashing in mud puddles.

Sagittarius: Preferences

You live in a happy, but messy, home. There are probably papers all over your desk, clothes scattered about, and dishes that need to be done. Again, if s just that you don't have time for those little things like organization and laundry.

The great thing, though, is that nobody else cares. You're Oscar Madison, the lovable slob, and everyone knows that when they come over, they can sink into your couch, prop then- feet on your coffee table and grab a slice of pizza.

As for food, you're a wolf. You eat fast, and it's not all that important what it is. It keeps you going, and you prefer to get going to the next place. You do love your meat (after all, you're the hunter), so you're idea of a fun meal is a backyard barbecue with steaks, burgers, dogs, and all your friends. Anything red (since you're a sign of fire and Jupiter) appeals to you, so those pep-peroni pizzas or spaghetti-and-meatballs dinners are standard weekly fare

Full Moon Lunar Eclipse/ December 10 @ 19 Gemini 9:36 AM EST

Dec 10 delivers the final lunar eclipse of the year. An average year will have a total of four eclipses; we’ve had six this year (four lunar, two solar.) No wonder we have had such an intense year.

The lunar eclipse of Dec 10 is particularly hot-wired. This is due to the trigger Uranus which stations direct and ends a five month retrograde cycle, on just before midnight PST on Dec 9. Expect circumstances to accelerate and intensify. Eruptions and disruptions are to be expected. The European Union is expected to meet to discuss unification measures, Dec 9. Egyptians may hear the results of recent elections. Syria and the growing situation between England and Iran are currently building steam. The daily news continues to churn out big headlines.

A full moon polarizes and illuminates. Occurring across the Gemini/Sagittarius axis, this lunar eclipse brings communications to a critical peak. Are we saying one thing and demonstrating something else? Are we speaking the same language? How do we get on the same page? Among the possible issues for this eclipse: the many against the one; compromising tomorrow for today; going the distance, too many opinions or variables, how to keep everyone on board and happy. Also on topic: currency measures and money exchanges, religious differences, alienation, isolation, language barriers, immigration, import/export, travel, transport, social networks, the media.

Mars in Virgo and Ceres in Pisces also flavour this eclipse. Mars in Virgo suggests a major complaint can be that of “not enough and not fast enough”. When Mars is in Virgo, more fixing, improving and refining becomes necessary. Positively, Mars in Virgo intensifies the drive to keep plugging away for better solutions. Head-on and with both feet on the ground is the only way to face the moment. It speeds the way to correction.

The influence of Ceres in Pisces suggests we are all in it together. No one is immune. Nothing remains in isolation. Collective consciousness is a lively breeding pool now. Will there be more disillusionment, confusion, and loss, or will resurrected hope find its safe harbour? In its positive application, Ceres in Pisces can be unifying and operate as merger or synthesis point for the eclipse. It offers a potential for currently polarized worlds or differing viewpoints to live side by side, to put aside differences long enough to find a workable and productive accord.

The Full Moon is always the alignment of the Sun and Moon in opposite Zodiac signs. The lunar eclipse happens when the Earth is smack dab in the middle, altering how the Moon reflects the solar light. Eclipses come in pairs, and usually come every six months, as that's when the Moon's orbit hits the ecliptic.
There's a mysterious, underworld quality to the lunar eclipse. The Moon turns orangey or blood red, because of the shorter wavelengths being filtered through the Earth's atmosphere. This frightened people in earlier times, as the cool lunar surface turned a malevolent red. Some cultures believed the Moon was swallowed by a three-legged toad (China) or a jaguar (Maya), and was a herald of demonic or destructive energies afoot. They shouted, clanged pots and pans, and banged drums to dispel the dark spirits lurking around.

What does it bring? Since full Moon's are a time of illumination, the lunar eclipse momentarily throws up shadows of darkness. And often it's the shadows of the "unlived life," buried potential, being brought to the surface. It's a bit like the rich void of the New Moon, where you're in touch with a well of psychic material. It can be disorienting, as your feet are often leaving the ground of the known!
If you've been living in a fantasy world, you're knocked back to earth. It can be destabilizing and rock the foundations. You are forced to be fully present to some event. You may get shattering news. It takes awhile to fully understand what's happening, and to find your footing again. Sometimes the events of the eclipse are worked out over a long period, say six months.

Full Moons are times of super high energy, and surging emotion across the spectrum. The eclipse intensifies the sense of being overwhelmed, and events are experienced in vivid color. You'll get this hit in the house in which the eclipse is taking place. It also loosens the moorings of any planet it touches. You're in the rapid transformation chute, and clues to how it'll manifest come from the Zodiac sign of the Sun and Moon at the time. Eclipses liberate us from the status quo, and get things moving. It's a time to trust, though the outcome may be uncertain, that all things work toward progress in the end.
Mercury retrograde ends on 12/13 at 8:43 PM, but new projects will launch more powerfully after the New Moon on 12/24.

The extra energy required to keep relationship and money issues in balance Dec. 15-24 will be worth the effort!

A fresh approach to relationships and creativity may serve you well 12/20 thru 1/13. Be sure to follow your intuitive flashes in these areas!

It's an especially good time for spiritual immersion, inspired creativity, and flowing unconditional love to others around 12/20.
The year draws to a close on a note of change and with a hint that something new and positive lies ahead in 2012.
